Education

The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation's Education Program is responding to the growing needs in the field of education by refining our goals and grantmaking strategy. Beginning in 2012, the Foundation will partner with public schools and districts in Washington state and Oregon to implement sustainable, research-based improvements that lead to measurable improvements in student achievement.

All children deserve a high-quality education that prepares them for college, career, and life. The Foundation works with visionary, effective school and district leaders to deliver on this promise.

The Foundation supports projects at the school or district level that integrate each of the following features:

  • Rigorous academics — 21st century critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Real-world learning — Internships, mentorships, and other hands-on learning opportunities with working professionals
  • Impact — Proven models and innovative strategies that result in measurable school-wide or district-wide improvement in student achievement
  • Community engagement — Vibrant and ongoing relationships with local companies and organizations

Grant applications for this priority area are by invitation. Unsolicited proposals are not accepted. If you believe your organization and project is aligned with our giving priorities you may complete and submit the contact form.

Philanthropist Paul G. Allen also supports Success at the Core — a free, web-based professional development toolkit for teachers and leadership teams designed to improve instructional practice. To learn more, please visit: www.successatthecore.com.
